| Trigonometric function graphs If you plot the values obtained from your calculator for sin(x), cos(x) and tan(x) onto graph paper, against the y axis, you get the result shown below. Sine and cosine give "wave" forms, while tangent swoops up and down the graph to disappear into plus and minus infinity. The graph is important in understanding and interpreting the values given by your calculator (see trigonometric identities).
